Now in its seventh year, the Boston Summer Singers is a community chamber choir that convenes every summer to prepare and perform a benefit concert for a local community organization.

We welcome interested singers to join us. Contact us below for more information on auditions.

Our singers perform during the year with organizations such as VoiceLab, Zamir Chorale, Seraphim Singers, the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, Boston Choral Ensemble, and the Cambridge Symphony. The choir includes teachers, professors, software engineers, scientists, graduate students, musicians, medical professionals, policy advocates, and a wonderful array of other warm-hearted folks from many different walks of life who come together to share the joy of singing great music together.

“I was enthralled by the concert. Your choices of music were gorgeous and I admire how you gravitate to less familiar composers. The sound of the singers was clear and passionate and, sitting in the front row, I saw you sculpt the dynamics and communicate with the singers. It was most unusual and moving concerts I’ve heard. I think many others felt the same.” Audience member, 2023

Join us for this year’s concert on Thursday, July 27th, 2023 as we celebrate seven years! No reservations are necessary. Please note that the July 20th concert is no longer open to the public due to limited space. Our family-friendly program (children welcome!) centers around the role of nature as a source of inspiration and contemplation in poetry and music from the Renaissance to the present day.

The concert features works spanning six centuries and three continents, with music by powerhouse Renaissance-women Maddalena Casulana, who championed the cause of women in music, and Vittoria Aleotti, alongside legendary 19th-century Boston composer Amy Beach, whose "Little Brown Bee," Op. 8 will be performed in a new edition created specially for this performance. Interspersed are contemporary selections based on poetry by Emma Jones, as well as the moving "I Was There" from contemporary composer Christina Whitten Thomas's "Songs of Gold." The program also features settings of Mongolian and Chinese folk songs inspired by nature, arranged by Yongrub and Chen Yi

Don’t miss it! We hope to see you there.

“What an amazing concert!  It was different, creative and enchanting. I have had many residents stop and tell me how wonderful it was. Thank you for bringing all the singers and musicians here for such a special concert.”
